Most skaters have been missing the off ice jumping component. This class will super-charge the strength of the jumps and speed up jump progress. The following levels will be offered:
-Beginner jumps-meaning waltz through lutz jump. We will go through the 4 phases of a jump- set up, take off, flight path and landing, along with proper posture and form. We will work on anchoring and landing body alignment. We will also develop core strength, balance and flexibility through specific exercises geared towards all phases of each jump. Training will also entail waking up the fast twitch muscles with several exercises. Only a few skaters use their fast twitch muscles often and some skaters have to “wake them up” and develop them, this becomes even more important in axels and doubles. Developing this at an early age with make the more difficult jumps easier.
-Adult jumps-This class will provide lots of information and details regarding all single jumps waltz through lutz. Working on core strength, balance and flexibility and the development of sound technique in the take offs for each jump. It will address proper posture in entering jump set ups and landing positions as well.
-Spins-This class is for those who are working on all three positions -upright, sit and camel. We will work on proper posture and work on hitting the required positions according to the USFS rulebook. An EDEA spinner is best for this class (go to EDEA.com) There are a few grounded spinners which are available upon request though a limited number available.
-Advanced jumps- meaning axel through double loop. This will entail rigorous rotational speed exercises, fast twitch muscle exercises, developing a strong core to stop rotation, along with balance and agility drills while developing and maintaining proper and safe jump technique.
Most skaters have been missing the off ice jumping component. This class will super-charge the strength of the jumps and speed up jump progress. DISNEY ON ICE AND CIRQUE DU SOLEIL AT BLUE ARENA
